The course aims to provide students with the knowledge required to understand the importance of Ecology as a Science and its role (contribution) in contemporary society. To understand the fundamental concepts of Ecology as well as the structures and function of Ecosystems. To understand the importance of major environmental problems in modern society. To know about the phytotoxicity of pollutants and their effects, biological and economic, especially on crop species. To know how anthropogenic activities affect natural and semi-natural ecosystems. To acquire knowledge on issues related to environmental education, with a view to designing, developing environmental education programmes and evaluating actions.
